The Kalo Foundation congratulates Priya Karkhanis (left), one of three Park Ridge high school students who won the Youth Service Medal from Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart in December. Priya was honored for her service as a regular volunteer and weekend docent at Kalo's Iannelli Studios Heritage Center. Park Ridge Mayor David Schmidt (right) introduced the winners at the Dec. 16 City Council meeting. The other recipients were Ellen Longman and Georgia Loutrianakis. Ellen, whose grandparents Herb and Barbara Zuegel are active in Kalo, was a volunteer this year at our Arts and Carafes fundraiser.

We are very grateful to the many teens and young adults who have contributed their talents to Kalo. While Priya has been one of our longest regular helpers, we also truly appreciate the many scouts who have helped us update the building and grounds with their Eagle Scout projects, and groups of students from local schools who take an interest in helping us share community heritage.
